My wife and I had the pleasure of climbing Mt Sinai in November, with a fantastic guide named Sabaan. We started the hike in the middle of the night to reach the summit before dawn. This is a long but easy hike until the very end. Sabaan was very patient and helpful. He even carried a blanket for me to use to keep warm at the top. I personally think this may be the Mt Sinai that Moses climbed as there is a cave at the top that he could have lived in while meeting with God. If you think this is a trip you want to add to your itinerary, a guide is needed. Contact Sabaan at 201067061755. I highly recommend him. We did this after 10 days in Cairo with a Nile cruise. We ended our trip at a Red Sea resort.

Amazing day hike at St Catherine’s Monastery and Mount Sinai with Mohamed and Shaaban. Mohamed picked us up promptly and made sure we had everything we needed including taking us to a local falafel takeaway for breakfast. The journey was smooth and comfortable and we met Shaaban at the monastery for the guided tour and then hike up the mountain. Doing it during the day gave us a lovely private experience and it was very peaceful at the top of the mountain.a lovely experience and Mohamed and Shaaban made us feel like real friends rather than tourists. As a family of five travelling through several parts of Egypt, the absolute highlight of our trip was the short but unforgettable time we spent with our wonderful Bedouin guide, Muhamed, in the Mount Sinai region. He thoughtfully planned our two-day tour from Sharm El Sheikh through Dahab to St Catherine’s Monastery. Communication before our arrival was prompt, which made everything seamless from the start. This experience was truly one of a kind and unlike any of the commercial tours we encountered elsewhere. Muhamed guides from the heart, with genuine care. By choosing his services, we felt grateful to be supporting the local Bedouin community rather than a tour company. We also purchased beautiful handmade bags as souvenirs, crafted by the Bedouin women. Muhamed was incredibly patient, kind, and accommodating throughout the unforgettable journey that included St Catherine’s Monastery, the White Canyon, stargazing accompanied by traditional Bedouin music, Wadi Wishwashi, and a visit to a Bedouin village. Muhamed and his brother, Shabaan, also lead visitors on the sunrise Mount Sinai hike. We wish we had spent more time there. We cannot recommend Muhamed highly enough. I would like to write a very warm and sincere recommendation for my guide, Shabban, who did everything possible to make me feel comfortable, safe, and well cared from the very beginning until the end of the journey. I would like to add something especially important from a woman’s perspective. I was traveling solo, and traveling alone as a woman is not always easy. What matters most to us is having someone we can truly trust — especially when climbing Mount Sinai after midnight. At that time, you genuinely need a guide you feel safe with. As a woman, I can say that Shabban showed me great respect at all times. I felt safe, protected, and at ease throughout the entire climb. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to any woman traveling alone — a guide like this makes all the difference. I would also like to mention that the price is more than fair, and I kindly encourage everyone to leave a tip for the guides. Taking people up to the summit of Mount Sinai and bringing them back down safely is not a small task — it is a real challenge for them as well. It was extremely cold that night; we felt temperatures around –3°C, yet Shabban constantly made sure that I was okay and that I had everything I needed. I stumbled upon shaaban phone number on my search on the internet for a packet that included pick up from my hotel in sharm, ascent to the mountain during the afternoon , stay over to watch the sunset, eat a delicious Bedouin dinner and sleep under the stars. and the next day , wake up before sunrise and have a delicious breakfast. all included. this is what I wanted.
